I do but I wish there was better tipping guidelines in this country. I never know if I’m tipping right for delivery or for pickup. I tip about $5 for delivery and about 2-3 dollars for to-go orders.

I once saw this happen right in front of me on I25 by Fort Collins, CO. I was pulling a 24' enclosed trailer with about $250K of bikes inside it, we pulled off and got a damned room.

Today was pretty nice out. Figured it would be the last decent day so did the leaves. Even with the b-l-o-w-e-r and riding mower to mulch them into the lawn it took over 2 hours.
Leaves suck. Still shake my head when I see someone bagging them.
edit: forgot SRC still has that word changing thing working

First house was in Royal Oak and had a few huge oak trees. The one in the front yard wasn't a big deal because it was easy to get the leaves to the curb, where the city would suck them out of the street unbagged. Not sure if they still do that or not.tGreenWay wrote:The Pantry wrote:Today was pretty nice out. Figured it would be the last decent day so did the leaves. The oaks in the backyard were a bitch. Pretty deep lot and a long way to the street. Had a big lightweight old bedspread I'd rake the leaves onto then drag it to the curb. Took most of a day to do the backyard. Hated it.
Those trees were weird. Some years there almost no acorns. Other years it was like they were raining for weeks. Must have had something to do with the weather over the course of the previous year.

I wonder about certain oaks, too. Same deal--very fe acorns some years. Haven't paid close enough attention to determine if it's wx related or a species that doesn't produce every year. I have some. Shagbark hickories near me that only produce nuts every other year.
Regardless, those oak leaves are a bitch. Can't mulch 'em, can't compost 'em. I've used tarps to move them in the past. Can't imagine your thin sheet lasted too long.

Why do you say can't mulch them? Been doing it ever since leaving Royal Oak.tGreenWay wrote:The Pantry wrote:First house was in Royal Oak and had a few huge oak trees. Yeah, shouldn't have said can't be mulched. I meant they take forever to break down.

We have at least one mouse in office building and he's really depressing one of the female coworkers because every morning there are two mouse turds on her desk. Exactly two. Every morning there they are.
I actually saw the little guy go running down the hall past my office door yesterday but by the time I got off the phone and went after him he was nowhere to be found.
We put out some of those sticky traps a week ago but they're apparently useless. Time to take it to the next level and get some spring-loaded break their little necks traps.

Re: Random Ramblings
If one has been seen there are likely others. There was a desk turd problem at my last place of employment. Six good ole-fashion snap traps distributed around the office caught 5 of the buggers (various sizes, one was tiny) the first week. The office was usually quiet and a few of us actually heard when a couple traps went off. Never saw any again. Used peanut butter from the crackers in the vending machine as bait.Floyd Robertson wrote:We have at least one mouse in office building and he's really depressing one of the female coworkers because every morning there are two mouse turds on her desk. Snap traps are getting laid tomorrow. We definitely have at least two confirmed sightings of different sizes and colors.

Re: Random Ramblings
Had no idea. Ordered lunch from Thai King on Mound south of 15. Went to pick it up and couldn't believe how fucked up traffic was. Took 10 minutes to get off our street and across all 4 lanes to get to the SB turnaround. Picked it up and it was even worse getting back to work.Floyd Robertson wrote:Hey Pantry how'd you like Mound Rd today? That shut down was like 11 hours.
Street out of our complex is the only official road in or out off NB Mound. Huge company owns all the property at the end of the street, where it seemingly dead ends. They own the only other passage (private property) out of the complex and are dicks about it, probably for liability reasons. Usually have some security company patrolling the entrance but heard there were even Sterling Heights cops today.
Didn't leave until about 6 this evening, figuring any security would be gone by then. Didn't even bother driving to Mound. Did a scouting loop at the end of the street then took the private route out. Road dumps out onto a service drive below 16 by the railroad tracks. Even that was bad. Took about 20 minutes to get through the light at Mound.
How was your fight?

Being that our office is just north of 17 and there was no NB traffic coming from south of 17 it actually benefited me. Normally I don't take Mound home because the NB traffic is backed up from 18 all the way down to 17 due to some knucklehead's decision 30 years ago to reduce it from 4 lanes to 3 at 17. So instead of shooting up Ryan like normal, which I can only imagine was a giant mess, I made it home in near-record time.

This, plus general talk about the weather, your aches and pains, which of your friends is getting a divorce, or died, and these examples are right off the top of my head. There are so many more old person conversations, but I'm getting forgetful as I get older.

Saw three of em like that while walking the dog this afternoon. Too cold to read tSwill on mobile while on this walk, so without this dump to read, the mind wanders.

Have to agree with you. The GMC Terrain has looked particularly idiotic for years. It actually wasn't a bad looking vehicle except for the wheel wells.tGreenWay wrote:Can't believe there are still some models of trucks and SUVs with squared off wheel wells. Thankfully, GMC has made it look less dumb with the 2018 redesign

Speaking of, have we talked about this yet on this board? I don't remember.
My dad is now...(100-42) + 17 = 75. He went to Fordson. He said when they had swimming in PE when he was in school they had to swim naked. I always laughed that off until another buddy of mine, whose Dad I think also grew up in SE MI said his Dad told him the same thing.

Been eating a lot of steel cut oats lately. I make a batch in the slow cooker and eat a bowl with pecans, shaved almonds, dried cranberries or apple and just a pinch of brown sugar.
WARNING TMI part — my bowel movement improvement has been off the charts. No effort involved and I feel great! What an amazing source of fiber.

Re: Random Ramblings
Walking around the neighborhood with the dog every night, it's surprising to see how many people keep their curtains/blinds open all the time. Maybe I'm just more private than most, because once it gets dark outside, the blinds are closed.
Something else I notice on those evening dog walks are how many families leave all their lights on. It's crazy to me how a family of three or four have lights on all over the house. Seems like such a waste. I've probably even mentioned this one before because it happens all the time and it still leaves me wondering why.
