Man dies after ice sailing crash on Pontiac Lake
But I'm getting a little nervous about 2023. I was coming off the hiking trails at Pontiac Lake yesterday right as the EMS vehicles were rushing to the scene. It's the second fatality this year that my paths have crossed, the first one being the Oakland Twp hit-and-run that happened on New Year's Day.
All I'm saying is, schedule your activities for anywhere I plan on being on any given day this year.

The victim used regular tap water to clean out their sinuses with a Neti Pot and contracted a brain-eating amoeba. You’re supposed to use distilled or purified water.
Think I’ll skip the sinus wash and stick with hocking up loogies.

I get plugged up from allergens and use a saline spray once during the day and again before bed. It actually does help, but you can bet I checked the label for purified or distilled water right after reading that article. I’ve talked to a couple people who swear by their Neti Pots, but I’m with you—it’s not ever going to be something I want to do. Besides, if I’m plugged up, that water isn’t making its way all the way through, anyway. It’ll back up like a clogged drain and just make a mess.

Imagine being done in by a sweet potato silencer. Some people might call it the root of all evil.
Fans of the HBO drama series "The Wire" may recall an episode in which a sweet potato was used as a silencer, spawning numerous internet demonstrations to test whether it actually worked. The alleged killer may have been a fan of the show because police also found a cellphone at the murder scene registered in the name of Marlo Stanfield, a fictional character on "The Wire."

Don’t be so glass half empty. Think of it not as being cut in half; think of it as significant weight loss.

If implosion, would be over before you knew it. Titanic sits at 12,500 feet. The submersible was rated to 13,100 feet...not a lot of room for error if just one little thing went wrong. Fire or stuck somewhere and running out of oxygen would be worse IMO.
From the story I read the descent, exploring, then getting back to surface is an 8 hour trip.

Maybe they should think about putting some chicken wire over those jet engines to stop debris, birds and humans from getting in there. Like they had in Bob's Country Bunker.

"It's not so much about deep sea as much as it is about the implosion. The force was compressing so rapidly that those bodies and souls had nowhere to go," said Aileen Maria Marty, an expert in infectious disease and disaster medicine at Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
Marty said that because of the way the sub imploded and likely crushed the bodies inside, "it’s very, very unlikely you’ll find any distinguishable body parts."
"For something that size whole thing, the whole thing is going to crush in about 1 millisecond. So when it actually happened, their brains didn’t have time to know it was happening," said Marty.

I heard an expert say over the weekend that it was over in a “fraction of a millisecond.” That’s a blessing for the billionaire’s son who was terrified of the trip and didn’t want to go. On the other hand, a part of me wished for the problem to extend long enough for the dismissive, condescending owner Rush to realize he should’ve listened to others because he was very wrong.

Read conflicting stories. The original saying he was terrified was supposedly a quote from his aunt. Another said his mom and sister accompanied them on the launch ship. Also said his mom was supposed to go on the dive but let him go instead. Said he was excited to go on the trip.Motown Spartan wrote:tGreenWay wrote:

The big question is...will James Cameron be alive long enough to turn this story into another Titanic movie? Even Hollywood technology isn't quick enough to recreate the implosion scene

Generally speaking, the public found the owner and billionaires unsympathetic victims. The one passenger who was truly liked was Paul Henri or whatever his name was. PH probably doesn’t have a box office draw big enough to pull in the amount of funding necessary to produce a film worthy enough to slap Cameron’s name at the top of the credits.
