also, if the knuckle-scrapers win the Gov race next year, Michigan will join the likes of Georgia, Florida and Texas with the racist/bigoted policies like voter suppression, christian-based education, etc.
The only thing that has saved us to this point has been decency in the executive, AG and Sec. of State offices.
I'll still vote.

How can you not know the rules you created? How do you not understand you are under a micro scope? Honestly, I think she did a real good job with the pandemic in Michigan, but she's really pulled some dumb moves too. She has no idea how energized she has gotten the right wing base. Mid terms are going to suck.

I get that everyone has done something at one time or another in the last year that either violated the rules or was otherwise dumb to do. It’s been tough to maintain that standard 100% of the time.
That said- she has a staff right? I know the governor doesn’t have a presidential type staff- but there had to have been someone who could have said “hey this is a really bad idea gov”

I would be willing to bet one of my heavily used bibles that the right wing knuckle-scrapers think this lapse in judgment is more revolting than the right wing plot to kidnap and murder her was.
therein lies the problem.

Were you thinking they were potential swing voters? I don't really care about them. They're to far gone. I'm worried about the potential.effect it has on rational people.

A friend who works in the capitol building texted me this morning about how dumb the move was. I said I’m not sure she wins a re-election. He replied, she’s dumb but her opponents are dumber.
So we got that going for us as a state.

Serious question- is this a thing going around the conservative space? I've seen a lot of them post that liberals are killing babies, cops, and robbing stores this weekend.

Not that I'm aware of. Maybe they're killing the babies of cops? That seems more plausible.

Question for you Michigan folks. I saw Jocelyn Benson talking about this voter petition rule in Michigan where a petition with only 300K signatures (4% of voters) could make it so that a law cant be vetoed by the Gov (specifically discussed relating to the voting bills). Apart from the obvious question of why Michigan has such a ridiculous law, can't there just be a counter-petition to say the opposite? Or did the idiots who enacted this petition law not want something logical included?

It's just another of the garbage bills the lameduck repubs pushed through at the end of their last session to protect their role in governing. They're trying to protect their government of the politicians, for the politicians and damn the citizens, let the minority rule. I assume they're going to try and use it with their anti-voting bills and they're doing their best to get the Redistricting Commission to be null and void. The republicans in this country are launching a full out assault on democracy and they don't care who gets in the way.

“Small government” Republicans only want small government when Democrats are holding executive branch office and/or the GOP in in the minority.

He seems to be a full-on RWNJ. Funny how the Trumpy GOP always includes Detroit as one of those shithole big cities run by lefties, along with NYC, Chi, SF, et al. Do they continue to attack Detroit, knowing Craig was in charge of the police for the past eight years?
