I might be wrong, but I don't think Whitmer has much to fear from this republican hopeful. OTOH, if she bakes this into her ads, it might get record democratic turnout. If you're raped and have the baby you're a hero.

When the jury went out after 3 days without a verdict I knew the prosecutors were in trouble.

Every elected official from governor to local clerk who doesn’t get endorsed by Trump, the RNC, the MI GOP or the DeVos clan will have to start watching their backs.

The more I think about this, the more I have to ask WTF is this jury thinking? Did any of them ever ask themselves, suppose the FBI doesn't put the kibbosh on the plans of this group? That alone makes them guilty enough to maybe make other groups think twice.

I guess I would have had to sat through all the trial to begin to understand this result. Was it some picky point of law or was it he said / she said and the defendants were believed over the FBI. Or was it, as some suggest, enough Trumpers on the jury to force this outcome.

Can’t find the article but a majority of the jury was from “Up North”.

Several claimed they didn’t have cable while others said they payed little attention to the news.

I can't say that I followed the trial closely enough to give sound answer, but I suspect a lot had to do with jury of their peers and the FBI entrapment angle

There are crtics of the FBI who are pointing out that they became very sloppy in their methods, after 911, pushing potental lawbreakers along with way too much FBI enabling. Juries were very willing to allow this for minorities but not so much for white people.

Despite Penn's attempt at propaganda, the answer to your second question is "Yes". Q1 GDP growth was negative.

Given the horrible reports from Walmart and Target this week it is a good bet the Q2 GDP growth will also be negative (although democrats will try very hard to fudge the numbers like they did with the census) therefore fulfilling the definition of a recession you gave rhetorically in your first question.

It is far more likely than not that we are currently in a recession.
