Creepy fucking building and I couldn’t stop noticing it. Kept looking up towards the lit windows towards the top of the building to see if I could see anyone in there. Maybe Tom Cruise? Nothing at all.

Friend in CA sent me a link to a condo he's thinking of buying at Squaw Valley (Lake Tahoe). One bedroom, two bath. Beautiful view of the valley but only 750 sq-ft. Kitchen has a half size sink, a tiny glass cooktop, under counter fridge/freezer, and no oven, dishwasher, or microwave. Over $400K. HOA fees are $1400 a MONTH.

He's got far more than enough money to buy it cash. Place is a little more than 2 hour drive from his primary residence. Use to be a pretty good skier but is now 60 and hasn't skied in 20 years. Was a decent golfer but hasn't played in many years. Says his wife has given him the "okay" to buy it. She rarely ventures more than 3-5 miles from their house and likely won't go there more than once.

A bit weirded out by his proposed property acquisition. Very out of character for him. Has said he doesn't want to rent it out, which is what he does for a living owning more than 20 rental properties free-and-clear.

Should I try to talk him out of it?
