I don’t know mr Campbell #2 but I think that probably worked out for the best.

Seems to have worked out for them, so far. It also seems like hiring the ISU coach and paying him huge money would’ve been a very typical Lions move.

I do not doubt they talked to Matt Campbell, but I skeptical about the details.  Mostly the "full control" thing - which is rare in the NFL.  To give a guy who has never played or coached in the NFL "full control" of an NFL franchise just sounds like a bad idea.  That said, Matt Rhule essentially has that at Carolina and his NFL coaching experience was sparse at best.  

The money is is plausible, but does seem high.  He makes 4 million a year at ISU.  Patricia made 4 million a year, it is safe to assume Dan Campbell is being paid well under that number.  There are a handful of coaches in the NFL who make 8.5 million a year or above, but it would be overpaying.  I would expect it to be more in the 6.5 million range.

Without doubt, Barry was the best at position in the history of the game. There was nobody better. Ever. You will never convince me otherwise. Calvin was a top 5-10 player at position. Stafford is a top 20 all time quarterback. Unfortunately, it seems the front office could never seem to get it together and build around them. The lions may never have won titles with those threee, but nobody can saythat the fans didn't get to see the best play the game.
