How is it that I am so tired, but can't get to sleep? I even went to bed early because of how tired I was. But not one bit of sleep.

The alternative to getting old is not a good one.

I am not so sure aging has a lot to do with it. As we age, we do generally require less sleep. I have been an insomniac pretty much all of my life. I sleep better now (57) than when I was younger. I think that has a lot to do with learning to manage my insomnia.

I wear a sleep monitor - the information really hasn't improved my sleep but I do find it interesting. It shows what I knew - that I am a light sleeper. I average less that an hour of deep sleep and about a half an hour of REM sleep a night (the REM number is really bad). Exercise is really the only thing that has improved my REM sleep but it takes at least 2+ hours a day of heavy exercise to get that number close to the normal range.

I am SO envious of my 6 year old daughters numbers - she averages 4+ hours of both deep and REM sleep a night. That is not uncommon for someone her age. Kids do need much more sleep and they sleep much better than adults.

Seriously, I think I have two problems.
First, teenagers. (motherfuckers...)
Second, I think my prostate is fine, but I do have to get up to pee now, when I never did before. Not sure if that is my bladder or sleeping lighter and noticing more...

I'm up at about 2:30-3:00 a.m. nightly. I could sleep through it, but I dont'. I go take a pee. Sometimes I'll have a "bigger event" so I don't use the bathroom in the bedroom. This gets me up and I cna't fall back asleep till about 5. I watch hogans heroes until I"m tired again, quietly slip into bed, let my wife get up and get ready for work and then I'm up after she's done.

The word "ain't" I have no problem with the word itself but the spelling with an apostrophe really bothers me. That word ain't no contraction!

I could certainly argue that it is. The word contraction has multiple definitions, but the most relevant here is:

- The process of shortening a word by combination or elision.

No matter the use of ain't - am not, are not, is not, have not, has not - it is being shortened and multiple meanings are being merged.

The apostrophe signifies the omission of a letter - in this case "o" in not, it is appropriate.

I've seen that theory but I have a issues with it. For instance there is no letter 'I' in am not, are not, have not or has not. The multiple meanings being merged would explain the different letters I guess but still...

Just drove through a college town. It’s 15 degrees out and saw a college student out with her coat wide open and she had a crop top on. Happy to report she was also wearing a mask.
