DWags, you and Bobby Sak are reporting numbers at polls that I don't think matter as much since MI made voting easier with Early Voting and no excuse absentee ballots, lines at polling places don't mean as much.

I'm hoping Trump has pissed off enough wives of "conservatives" and Swifties who started registering en masse after Trump dissed Taylor Swift that they will end the election process.

If you want to drill it down to basics it probably comes down to Harris making inroads in the Pennsylvania suburbs. Philadelphia proper is losing voters. That’s a hard current to swim against.

I applied for the job when the then current Drain Commission took an early out. It was pretty much a waste of time as the good old boys selection committee was in full force and gave the job to their best buddy. He had to run in the next election and won and then died a year or two later and the process started over again. This time they appointed someone with actual experience that had been working in the office for quite a few years. I'm not sure if he ran again since I quit paying attention to that part of the elections since there was never any competition for the office.

I’ve come to grips with the fact that a majority of voters in the US have been convinced that the United States is better off with a one party government led by one individual who controls the judiciary and the legislative branches.

It happened in the 1930’s with Germany, Italy and Spain.

This century China’s Xi has rolled back many of  the reforms his post Mao predecessors had enacted like limiting The General Secretary to one 10 year term.  Putin has effectively made Russia a dictatorship with sham elections, wiping out all dissent and eliminating term limits.

This year the SCOTUS effectively gave the office of POTUS legal immunity.  Trump and his cronies like Musk, Betsy DeVos and other billionaire backers see that ruling as a way to permanent one party rule.

Maybe it's been said already, but I guess overturning Roe v Wade wasn't as big of a deal (as far as how people would vote).

That's the point. The Dems ran a shitty campaign. The blame is on them. Not the voters. Not the far left. They have no one to blame but themselves. One thing I agree with you on is the long game. The Dems don't have one. The Pubs do. They hammer the same messages consistently for decades. It took them 50 years to overturn Roe, but they did it. They've been gerrymandering for decades. They rightly focused on 2010 so they could redraw the districts in their favor. They have the Federalist Society working on dragging the courts to the right for decades.

What have the Dems done? They play defense. They allow issues to be framed by the right, and then play defense. Bad defense. They managed to get watered down Obamacare passed so they could claim it was bi-partisan, and then rather than pushing for more they go on defense. The right gets whatever they can and then always pushes for more. Always on offense. Even when they're not in power. Because they have a long term plan. And they'll use whomever is convenient to get there. Right now it happens to be Trump.
