By the start of his senior season at Highland Springs (Virginia) High School, schools such as Missouri, Miami (Fla.), Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Louisville had all offered scholarships to the sleek receiver, and then he received an invitation to visit Ohio State.

Davis said back then there was no need to see what the Buckeyes had to offer or deliberate any longer, he had found what he wanted at Michigan State, and he made a verbal commitment on July 22.

On Wednesday, the 6-foot-4, 185-pound Davis put his promise into writing, signing a national letter of intent with the Spartans.

"Michigan State has just felt like home, and it's a football town where they breathe football like me,'' Davis said. "Coach (Ron) Burton went to the same high school as me, and he's's on the Wall ofFame here.

"From the jump, me and coach Burton connected, because he knew exactly what Highland Springs and the Richmond area is all about," Davis said. "My dad was frat brothers with Curtis Blackwell, too, so it's just been clicking.''

...but, but....it was supposed to be different. Again, no matter the coach's name, recruiting is hard in CFB. Michigan does not recruit itself, and we have gotten to a point in CFB where no program really recruits itself (like Duke in CBB).
