Geographically, Where Does "Up North" Begin?

D wags - curious coming from someone who hasn’t seen a ton of time there why do you dislike it now

I love TC enough that I’d enjoy living there full time. Good schools, safe, clean. However, if you’re just visiting, the summer jump in the numbers of people make it nearly intolerable. Driving the city in summer is borderline masochistic.

Cant move anymore. At 17 I could get high drive up an hour before BBking played at the holiday in grab a ticket and sit down. Now it takes you an hour to drive through front street.

Its perfect for the wife and daughters. They love shopping love the hustle of the district. Can wake up at the Bayshore grab a jet ski for an hour or so sit on the beach then shop then dinner then back at the hotel.

I’m not a shopper I’ll do the water stuff but the rest of the day I’m pretty bored or frustrated driving in the traffic.

Up North is not a place, it is a state of mind.

IMO - Up North includes lots of land where if you have a short wheel base 4 wheel drive "Jeep" with a winch there are lots of places you can get to where you can drink beer and do shots with the black bears.

Well "crazy neighbor" goes without saying for the UP. For the LP typically what you find is a bunch of drunk high school age kids.

It's worth noting that the bridge was installed at the lower falls and not the upper falls. The upper falls are the ones you see in the pictures. The lower falls are the ones that people can splash around in.

XC skied across Lake Ovid a couple of weeks ago. Climbed up the island. So desolate.

I could envision a trip to the majestic Up North in the winter... as long as people stayed away.

I imagine this time of year the golf/white people/khaki variable is down.
