Have an old friend I went to State with that joined the SS and did presidential detail when Clinton was in office. Haven't talked with him in a number of years. Probably retired by now. I should give him a call one of these days.

I have a cousin who married a Army vet (officer) whose first job out of the Army was with the Secret Service. He left them to join the FBI because they keep you at one office for 4-6 years, sometimes longer while the Secret Service is a hellish life if you are married.

He was assigned to Hillary Clinton in '08 and then was transferred to the Obama team. He then was assigned to protect Obama for the general election and the transition. After several trips overseas with Senators and the VP sometimes on less than 24 hour notice it was time to go.

My friend was late 40s last time we talked...never married. His first job after graduating from State (CJ) was a couple years with the Warren PD before his SS application/interviews/background checks went through.

My guess is a lot of the federal agent jobs are hell on marriages. I've read numerous times how the divorce rate for FBI agents is sky high.
