WOTS has been ND's AD and administration were less than pleased when they found out Trace Armstrong, Kelly's agent had been in contact with USC when Todd Helton still had the interim title in late Nov-Dec '15. That was after ND had given him his most recent extension.

Now both sides deny everything.

The current silence in Kalamazoo regarding Fleck's new deal we were hearing about a few weeks ago is puzzling at best. We still might hear an announcement about Fleck's new contract for a big announcement before the Cotton Bowl kick off. But some of the donors in Minnesota don't look like they are sold on Claeys and now this stuff out of ND.

PJF is entertaining as hell but in no way do I want to see him on the sidelines in EL as a HFC any time soon. Perfectly content watching that circus act from down the road at WMU. Only thing better would be watching him trying to pull it off in AA.

How about Lions lose to Pack, Caldwell canned, Harbs to Allen Park and Fleck to UMAA.

That would certainly be entertaining, as far as seeing the u of m fans' reactions.

But, part of me would be a little worried that Fleck could succeed there, and we'd be facing him for 30 years.

Les Miles reportedly bought his own ticket to Minneapolis just to be there in case Fleck's contract talks blew up.

I don't know what was going on in Kalamazoo but WMU's AD looks she never considered Fleck might take the Minnesota job. Minnesota was worried about Claeys recruiting.

When they fired him Minnesota was last in the Big Ten according to Rivals. Since Friday Fleck has taken Minnesota from 77th to 49th and WMU has gone from #25 to 84 with at least 6 of their 3*'s flipping to the Gophers and several other WMU verbals have reopened because they don't have a coach.

They were paying Fleck $800k per, and were in negotiations before he left so that was going up. I think there were some deep pockets in the community willing to contribute to Fleck's salary. I am sure they would contribute to Miles's salary. So Miles could reasonably expect to hit the $1M mark, right?

Chludzinski and Spoerl believe WMU could put together a package of between $1.5 million and $2 million annually to keep Fleck in town.

If Miles wants to stick it to LSU he can sign a 4 year deal with WMU for $250K/season and LSU has to pick up the difference. He'd be getting $1.5M/yr and LSU would be paying him $1.25M.

I think that's what Bo Pellini did when he took the Youngstown State job after Nebraska fired him.
