The only ways Herman isn't coaching in Austin will be if Houston offers more money than they can afford (doubtful) or LSU does the same (Just as doubtful).

Right now LSU doesn't have a pot to pee in except donor money. The previous governor signed significant cuts to all higher ed in the state and the current governor was the biggest reason Les Miles got his stay before getting fired this fall.

If Houston would have been asked to join the Big 12 things might have been different but Herman is 41, known to Texans and Texas is the best funded program in the Big 12.

A buddy of mine works for a guy who is a big time LSU donor. They are going to spend the big bucks on a coach. First priority seems to be Jimbo Fisher, but if he doesn't come, they will lure Herman as much as they can.

I think Pat Schurmur is very happy drafting, trading or getting players through free agency as opposed to recruiting.

ND could go cheap and replace Brian Kelly with Chip Kelly saving all the signs and cards that already have Coach Kelly

His boss isn't the biggest fan of the hire, but if he can get Kiffin (if he can't find a job as HC) then peoples' worries would be quelled a little.

Herman played LSU for more money, and was pissed that someone leaked out the "announcement" Thanksgiving night.

Wouldn't be surprised to have Texas welcoming Herman aboard by Monday morning.

I realize this is arguing with an idiot but....

1. Houston is not an upgrade over Western Michigan all things considered.
Generally at Houston you'll get the leavings from Texas, A&M, Tech, Baylor, SMU, and fight the 29 other programs that recruit Texas for them.
He's made Western into the go-to MAC school. So any kid that doesn't quite make the B1GTen or falls through the cracks is his. Plus he's actually poached a few kids with B1GTen offers. You give that up for the recruiting dogfight above?

2. 5 star studs? 1 5* in 16 3-4*'s in 16. Other than those players no other recruits over 3* in the last 5 years.
