can you imagine the person who ends up actually getting the job?
imagine the fanfare, the riveting press conference and the subsequent parade 5 people deep through the streets Knoxville when the 17th person they offered the job to finally accepts it.

Harbaugh followed Hoke at Michigan, Tennessee should offer. He'd have them i third or fourth place in no time.

This is a kick to the nuts. I wouldn't say Doeren was on the hotseat, but he probably would of been if he had another 7-6 season. If you take the UT job and you basically get a fresh set of downs on your career. And despite the shitshow this coaching search has been, there is still more upside at UT.

Word down here is that Doeren was offered an extension after Wolfpack started 6-1 and he turned it down. So after they finished 8-4 he had to flirt with Tenn to get the deal he wanted.

Yikes... so fucking weird.
Vols shitshow is hilarious. How fucking pissed at those fans!!! Hahahaha!
Yeah, mind bottling.
I believe the AD is an ex-NFL guy with ties to Edwards. There were rumblings early that the AD also wanted to retain the current assistants, which looks to be the case. I mean, Herm isn't going to be bringing in his own guys from 10 years ago. At least the AD had a plan (good or bad) and executed it.

He also confirmed he would keep Todd Graham‘s staff in place, as AD Ray Anderson preferred... Offensive coordinator Billy Napier, himself a former Nick Saban disciple, is expected to stay on and have a major hand in running the day-to-day aspects of the program, with Edwards taking more of a CEO role.

I've seen a LOT of UT fans hoping for a Phil Fulmer AD / Tee Martin HC regime.

This disaster reminds me of how things were with Perles as AD/coach, DiBiaggio as Pres., and Ferguson thinking it was okay for him to be the puppet master behind the scene. Total fucking embarrassment. They made it difficult to be proud of MSU during those years.

Our best Florida recruiter was Charlie Baggett. Let's reconstitute him and point him south.

Texas A&M has always tried to be a big boy program, when they probably will never be one.

If somebody said that about MSU, you would get all pissy. Is MSU’s history substantially better than A&M’s?

Good piece. This about sums it up...
Currie was on Mike Hamilton’s staff when Fulmer was fired in 2008, and Fulmer wanted the AD job when Currie was hired. Five weeks after he was hired, Currie told me he had not yet spoken with Fulmer. Two months after that, UT hired Fulmer as “special adviser” to President Joe DiPietro. The elements for a Roman tragedy mixed with a bad reality show were in place.
