Better in what sense, since both have won a Presidental Election they are proven as winning candidates.
I would like a younger set, myself, but as of yet really don't see the combination of some experience and a younger age on the Democratic side that I get excited about and of course the Republican side is a shit show.

Who would be "better"? (Other than Obama again....)
Big Gretch? ...but they will "native/bitch/Pelosi" her in some way too, cause the women are the easy targets.

Beto said in a debate he was taking away the guns, so probably not, unless he somehow upsets Abbott.AvgMSUJoe wrote:Don't think the country is ready for Buttigieg... The ladies who ran last time have all been blackballed by the right wing media (just ask Penn)....

You have just made the point that the democrats have a very weak bench.
Buttigieg? The only thing he has going is that he IS gay not that he isn't. An important checkbox for your party. Otherwise he has accomplished nothing other than getting elected as mayor of a medium sized town, failing as a presidential candidate and parlaying that into Sec of Transportation where he promptly oversaw the greatest supply chain disaster in US history.
Obama? Nope, termed out
Big Gretch? Remember when she was going to be VP? Her mismanagement of COVID sunk her ship. She is sweating out re-election today in democrat Michigan.
Beto? Is this how democrats think? Was miserable as a presidential candidate. Lost his try for Senate and will lose big today in his try for governor. Dems: "let's nominate him for prez!"

Don't see Whitmer as Presidential, could just be too familiar. Newsome from CA perhaps. Not sure if either has national experence. Harris, of course, but would rather 4 more years as VP first. Maybe Penn is right. AOC, she is smart, speaks well, and has been in DC for 2 terms. But too young, and need someone the poohbas will get behind.
Re: 2024 Presidential Election
If accomplishments is a requirement Trump should never even been nominated. Everything that man has touched has been a failure. Casinos, Trump U, steaks, etc. He even lost re-election. He made money because he had money to start with, and he’s even afraid to show us his taxes to prove his worth. Dems have at least as many worthy candidates as the GOP, including Governors, Senators, and Administration people. Buttigieg would run circles around most Republicans in a debate.RQA wrote:AvgMSUJoe wrote:Don't think the country is ready for Buttigieg... Like I said earlier (I still want an answer from dwags on what he knows and what he is hiding from us) it’s just to early to say. And I don’t necessarily think that biden should step aside either. If he feels up to it, he knows better than anyone the requirements of the job and if he can do it. But, if does stick it out, I think an open primary should be encouraged by the party rather than squashed and just go with the incumbent. There’s no reason not to check in with your voters and make sure this is still the guy they want.
There are popular names right now, your newsomes whitmers and shapiros, but they all just won elections so that easy to say. Check back in a few months and see how things are shaking out.

I really would like a younger version; (personally I would like a younger version of Senator Warren, but readily admit that Joe is a better President for The People, than she probably would be) but his age & experience has given him the breadth of experience that has really helped the country so far.

Not to take away from what you said, however, she checked "the box" after Harvard hired her as a professor. It really didn't have anything to do with her being hired, since she was the top professor in her field when she was hired, and Universities typically do not give anyone but the best tenure when they walk in the door, which she got. Still you are right, that is additional baggage that she didn't need.

To your point about it being too early, the Dems best candidates of the last 40 years were relative nobodies and not being mentioneed in conversation after the midterms, or really even as little as a year before they were elected (not in any realistic sense)
Some hick governor from little Arkansas? Pssh, yeah right. A young black senator with Muslim sounding name? Just a few years after 9/11 while soldiers are dying at the hands of Muslims? Lol, stop dreaming.
That doesn't mean it will happen, but there may well be a great candidate out there that isn't on the radar.

Yeah, I’m the 2020 version of this thread at this point people were still so obsessed with the idea of it being a celebrity that they were busy talking about the rock and Oprah. And don’t even get me started on the avenatti thread.
The only person who knew what was happening was dwags, who correctly predicted the covid 19 pandemic and that the elected president would be wearing a mask while campaign. Fuck me.

This is still a red state, but all of talk of DeSantis leading a massive Red Wave in the state is a bit exaggerated.
I think it's also interesting to note that DeSantis being at odds with Trump probably helped him avoid the anti Maga nutcase wave that we've seen elsewhere.

Not really. Not directly anyway. Obama and JFK are the only presidents in the last 100 years that went from the Senate to the Presidency.
I believe 4 others in the last 100 years were former presidents, but had been VPs more recently than Senators. And two of those only ascended to the Presidency due to the death of their predecessor.
So the Senate has been a path to the vice Presidency, and to getting nominated, but in the latter case usually ended up in a loss.
