I did not watch. It's a shame that CNN took the money grab. It sounds like Kaitlan Collins did the best she could in an unpossible situation.

Shit I had to check the time stamp on this I just assumed someone bumped a post from 2016. Turns out someone is still saying this like it’s true or something.
75 million people voted for this dude after he had been president for 4 years. 4 years of him speaking directly to their face every day and 75 million people said “yes more please”. I don’t think your “just let him talk and he’ll tire them out” plan is working.

Perhaps.
There will always be a 20-30% of the party who will defend their candidate regardless of what they do or get caught doing. But those were lost votes anyway.
What we need are the 20-25% of the middle to see Trump's buffoonery on display in prime time. If we don't send that reminder, there will be voters who will remember when the economy was good, interest rates were low, and Bud Light wasn't gay (that's /s for Trap's sake) and will conveniently forget that Trump is a raving lunatic.

So much so they are seeking to form a “Common Sense Republican Party” as an alternative to nominate a “middle ground” candidate (insert Peter Meijer) since the old guard/DeVos backed candidates are not conservative enough to satisfy the current MI Republicans.

IMO the Republicans are splitting into "the revolutionaries" who are dreaming of tearing down the current form of government to impose their agenda of a fascist state controlled by them; "the radicals", aka the DeVos's, who want the fascist state but who don't want to get their hands dirty; and finally the "old guard" or which there are few, who still hold alliance to the good government beliefs of the Milliken Republicans.

The Republicans and Trump.
The Republicans are in the position of having a wolf by the ears, they don't like it but they don't dare let go.
The Republicans were "all in" on what Trump was getting done as President.
So, no, Bob is right on this one. The splits in the party are not about Trump. They are split on tactics to achieve their goals.

Donald Trump, -200
Even with all the brewing legal troubles, even with his dismal record in the Oval Office, even with his now-undeniable history of sexual assault, even with his shameless simping for Russia, the FPOTUS remains the prohibitive favorite to win the nomination. “Minus 200” means you’d have to plonk down $100 to win $50. The thing is, Trump will never not be running. Even if he’s under indictment, even if he’s convicted, even if he flees to Dubai to avoid the long arm of the law, he will remain a candidate, because campaign donations subsidize his mounting legal bills. So the Former Guy is either the GOP nominee, which is bad for the Republicans, or he forms his own political party and Ross Perots the election, which is even worse for the Republicans. The Rick Wilson Law of The Donald is less absolute than we’d all care to admit—not everything Trump touches dies—but in the case of Republican chances in the ‘24 election, he is a metaphorical shot of arsenic with a Novichok chaser.

Not at all convinced that is the best thing that could happen, as he keeps avoiding hits from all his legal issues, and that could include being criminally convicted for 1/6 issues and for stealing secret documents, there is part of the Republican base that is wrapping their lips around his body parts with the force of blood suckers, and without those votes the Republicans are likely toast.
However, with those votes Trump came withing a few thousand votes of winning in 2020 in one of the most voter suppressed but fairly counted elections, and there is no reason to believe he cannot repeat that performance, and possibly win.

and the best way to try to engage people is to remind them of the disgusting putrid christian filth that is the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator. The horrific things he did American democracy in the name of racism, bigotry, and misogyny. How the only person he had to please was Putin.
if the GOP happens to nominate a more sanitized version of the same christian filth, it'll be easier for the mainstream media to lull people into complacency. They're predictably already trying to re-normalize the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator again.
America needs to remember the worst economy in the history of modern America, how the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator ushered in a pandemic that killed millions and brought our country to a standstill, the celebration of sexual assault, racism, violence in the streets, the marginalization of decent Americans and the full frontal attack on traditional American values.
and the best way to remind the otherwise stupid Americans of that is to put a face on the person who is responsible for it.

Trump has always reminded me of Robert Preston's portrayal of "Herold Hill" in the movie "The Music Man".
He could sell dirt to a farmer.
However, there will be some forgiveness regarding the pandemic induced economy, and seriously, though it was mostly the Democratics in Congress he did sign a couple of major laws to alleviate some of the economic hardships caused by the pandemic. He also negotiated the withdrawal from Afghanistan & kept the war hawks in the US at bay. Of course, his withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal was stupid along with about 90% of everything else he did.
Biggest problem by far is he anti-American creed beliefs, which totally disqualify him as a President. However, it is exactly those beliefs which make him so attractive to the handful of wealthy people who own the Republican Party, since they believe the same things.
Re: The 2024 US House & Senate (& Presidential Election) and the Michigan Legislature - Who do you Think Wins?
With this week’s announcement that former state Rep. Leslie Love (D-Detroit) was seeking the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Debbie Stabenow (D-Lansing) next year, the odds of contested GOP and Democratic primaries are rising.
...
Two Republicans have declared for the seat, businessman Michael Hoover and Nikki Snyder, a member of the State Board of Education.
...
Other Republicans who could jump in include former U.S. Rep. Peter Meijer (R-Grand Rapids); Michael Tuttle, vice chair of the New York Stock Exchange; and businessman Kevin Rinke, who unsuccessfully ran for governor in 2022.
...
On the Democratic side, Love joins U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Lansing), who has raised millions of dollars since she entered the race, and two others who have never held elected office, Dearborn businessman Nasser Beydoun and Ann Arbor attorney Zack Burns.
Actor Hill Harper and State Board of Education President Pamela Pugh also have said they are considering a run.
Several high-profile Democrats have declined to run, including Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, state Sen. Mallory McMorrow (D-Royal Oak), U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Waterford Twp.), U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and former gubernatorial candidate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed.
...
In January, former U.S. Rep. Brenda Lawrence (D-Southfield) said she was considering joining the race if a “strong, African American” didn’t step forward. Since Lawrence’s retirement from Congress in 2022, Detroit does not have Black representation in Congress for the first time since Charles Diggs became Detroit’s first Black congressman in 1955.

Republican Sen. Tim Scott's not-yet-official campaign for president is launching a $6 million ad buy in several states early next week.
Why it matters: The move suggests the South Carolina senator will be able to boost his profile with voters as he tries to be heard over better-known GOP contenders such as former President Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who like Scott is expected to announce his candidacy next week.

Actually, that's what CNN should do with this footage.
You could create an 8 part television series with hour long episodes that starts at the beginning and disproves each and every thing he said

“I feel very strongly about where the country needs to go, and I feel very strongly about how important it is that Donald Trump not be president ever again,” Cheney said at a March forum at Boston College.
She said she remained undecided about her political future, including whether she wants to run for president.
Cheney’s speaking tour appears to be picking up. She is scheduled to appear Thursday at the Mackinac Policy Conference in Michigan.

I don't see his "personal freedom" act going over with a majority of Americans, though.
Of course, I didn't think christians would giddily support someone who bragged about raping women and mocked disabled people, either.
