Hope they all recover and hoping this is it for the season.
How’s baseball done lately? I haven’t heard of many outbreaks in teams lately but i haven’t been following too closely.

Baseball? Is that still going on?
I heard Tampa Bay won the Stanley Cup, but it's just a rumor. No official confirmation yet.

Cut out of one of my two long-time fantasy leagues before the draft. Â Thought for months this NFL season, if played, would be shut down completely after maybe 8 weeks of play. Â Too many players and staff traveling around the country.
The NFL’s major COVID testing flaw has been exposed. But is the league willing to eliminate it?

There is no way they can play Titans Bills on Sunday. Another positive today. Can't move it to Monday because the Bills are supposed to play on Thursday. What they should do is move it to Monday and make the Titans swap their slot next Sunday with Buffalo so Tennessee has to play on 3 days rest. Part of their punishment for being stupid.
And actually moving it to Monday would only work obviously if they test negative for the next 4 days. Which seems like a long shot at this point.

It sounds like the current thinking is to try and push the game to Monday/Tuesday and then play Saturday night instead of Thursday.WhiteBoyHatcher wrote:There is no way they can play Titans Bills on Sunday. There is also some discussion to adding a week to the season to give the League some scheduling flexibility to push around games - I have no idea how that would work.

I saw that. If I'm the Bills organization I'm reluctant to play ball on that. Yes, the turnaround from Sunday-Thursday is theoretically the same as Tuesday-Saturday, but you're getting screwed on the back end of that with the extra rest accrued from playing on Thursday night.

"I think if you look at what we've been able to do, the safety precautions we have that our players have followed, our coaches follow, our staff follows, you know, I think we're a model of safety of what we've been doing during this time period.” - Mullen yesterday

“These kids are away [from their families] and they’re out and they’re laying it on the line to entertain people. Something just doesn’t feel right about it right now,” Capel said Monday. “The numbers were what they were back in March. I look at it every day, man. It seems like every day it’s getting worse. I don’t know why you cancel it in March, but you say it’s OK to do it right now. But what do I know?”

Not sure how many players have announced this, but U-Miami's Al Blades, Jr has myocarditis. As you may know, he is the nephew of Lions great Bennie Blades.

I have no idea, practically the only thing I know about him is his name. He was out of the league before I turned 10 and I'm not a Lions fan anyway. Sweet name, though.aualum06 wrote:Cameron wrote:Bennie Blades is one of the all time great football names.

I have a soft spot for Bennie and the whole Blades family. Back in 2005 or 2006, former Spartan DL Josh Shaw held a charity basketball game down here with the proceeds going to the Al Blades Foundation (Bennie's Brother and Al, Jr's dad, who was killed in a car crash). I was on the board of the local MSU Alumni Club at the time, got in touch with Josh's people about this and promoted it to Spartans down here. The night before the game they had a reception for the event that was mostly participants, but I was invited. Met Bennie and some of the other Blades family. I was wearing an MSU shirt and so Bennie started talking to me about the Lions, Michigan (the state, not UofM), etc. Probably talked my ear off for a good half hour or more. Really nice guy.
The charity basketball game the next day is where Bobby Williams coached against OJ Simpson, that I've mentioned before as one of the weirdest sports moments I've ever seen.

More than 6,600 college athletes, coaches and staff members have tested positive for the coronavirus this year, a dispiriting measure of the pathogen’s reach across the United States and its spread among some of the country’s most closely monitored people.
At least 6,629 people who play and work in athletic departments that compete in college football’s premier leagues have contracted the virus, according to a New York Times analysis. The vast majority of those infections have been reported since Aug. 15, as players, coaches and the staff around them prepared for and navigated the fall semester, including football season.

Virginia Tech was hit particularly hard by coronavirus issues throughout the season. Athletic director Whit Babcock estimated about three-quarters of the team contracted the virus since March, along with eight of 10 full-time assistants.

Does the NCAA even have an ounce of power to do anything? On the other hand, is Frost so thick that he didn’t think practicing at some location in Nebraska with 85 big and fast kids in bright Red wouldn’t get out to the general public.
