Things in MI have reversed. That all started about 1:00 Sunday July 21 with Biden’s announcement.
Harris will help Slotkin and that pull thru helps the Democrats retain MI 3 and MI 7

So, you are voting for an actor who has never held office and probably knows next to nothing about Michigan's needs over an experienced and knowledgeable politician who has been immersed in Michigan's needs for years?
Make sense for someone like you, I guess.
While you probably don't care about the farmers, agriculture is one of the top businesses sectors in Michigan.
Stabenow is the Chairperson of the Senate Agriculture committee & Slotkin, as a member of the House Agricultural committee is set up to work her way up the seniority chain to be a voice for Michigan Agriculture as Stabenow has been.
The actor, or for that matter Rogers, well not so much.
The Republican farmers associations have endorsed Slotkin, that should tell you something about bipartisanship trumping (pun) party.

I clearly have no idea who the other choice(s) is. I can’t stand slotkin. She is awful awful awful. The definition of what is wrong with democrats and what has to this point allowed facism to creep in. I want to vote for politicians that do not cozy up to genocidal maniacs and say “look at me I’m in the middle between normal people and racist psychopaths isn’t that so great!”
Fuck bipartisanship. You don’t compromise with genocidal maniacs. You crush them. We can talk about bipartisanship when they bring themselves back from the brink. For now, that’s not what we need.

I think it is probably a long shot, however, North Dakoata has a population less than many cities in Michigan and all politics is local.
Incumbent Kevin Cramer (R-ND) is being challenged by Katrina Christiansen. Katrina is a professor at the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, ND. If I’m reading the bio on her webpage right, she has a PhD in Agricultural Engineering and a couple of patents.
BTW Ag is a huge part of ND, so an Ag professor is nothing to sneeze at.

It’s not moral purity. It’s realism. You’re the one living in a fantasy land of wishing it were still Ronald Reagan and Tip Oneil meeting to hash things out (lotta good those compromises ended up getting us lol, what a disaster)Trapper Gus wrote:Travis of the Cosmos wrote:

The reality is that you don’t compromise when what one side wants is objectively horrible. You can’t compromise on anything. You can’t give them an inch of room or they’ll blow it wide open. We’ve seen that entirely too many times in history. The only antidote is to ruthlessly destroy them at every opportunity. Not compromise so you can throw out ads saying “look how good I am at meeting in the middle with the dictators that want to take away your rights! You only lost some rights not all!”
You’d think after being so thoroughly embarrassed after months of being hopelessly wrong you’d mind your tone, but no. You’re wrong here too.

Biden & Pelosi got some of the most sigificate Acts of the last 50 years through Congess with their ability to compromise, being sure to not make the perfect the enemy of the good.
Anyone who has ever worked with other people knows this is how things get done.
I know you are just posturing on a message board, but matching the intolerance of the right is not the way to get things done.
Michigan badly needs a strong voice on the Ag committee & she would provide that.

Why is Slotkin “awful, awful, awful”.
Give some examples of why that strong opinion came about.
That’s what I heard about Debbie Stabenaw since she beat out fellow Democrat Lingg Brewer for chair of the Ingham County Board of Commisioners and every election she has won since.
Slotkin is going to be on the ballot against Mike Rogers who won his first Congressional race when The Green Party got Bonnie Buckeroo on the ballot (that was her real name) and that peeled enough votes from Diane Byram for Rogers to win.
A side note. Latest photos I’ve seen on Rogers’ campaign literature appear to show he’s dyed his hair blonde to hide the grey. He wasn’t blonde when he was in Congress)

No, I assure you, I have despised slotkin’s brand of do nothing compromise but get reelected because people are dopes, since well before you started posting here because your preferred message board got shut down.Trapper Gus wrote:At this point I'm beginning to feel that if I voice support for a candidate some posters will have a cow about that candidate.

You can’t compromise with facism. Of course, you know this as evidenced by your posts. But you chose who you liked years and years ago and that won’t ever change even though slotkin would gladly march all of us to the salt mines in the name of compromise (you only have to do 10 years in the salt mines not 20! Normally I agree with weighing all options. But this year I’m of the mind we need to vote for anyone who is in the Democratic Party that has the BEST chance of beating a Republican candidate.. when we can beat back the orange monster and the right wing Christian nationalists I’d give guys like Hill Harper a longer look. Not this year. It’s too important.

However, what you are overlooking is that compromise is possible with people who believe in facism who are also members of Congress.
I am clear on this and have been for over 20 years here and on TOB. Republicans are evil.
Never vote for one.
Many of you on this board have mocked me for my utter loyalty to voting for Democratics.
I also like to vote, in primaries, for Democratic candidates who are tough, experienced politicians who can get things done.
edit - IMO in a purple state like Michigan her connections with the farmers is a big positive in the general election.
Go ahead and vote for an actor who has never held an elective office, which is an honest description of Hill.
Your hatred and Trump like attack on his opponent is a bit over the top.

In Michigan these positions are fiduciary only. They have no power to deny the election results.

Meh, the voters rejected Kari lake and her ilk. Unfortunately there are enough of them that converge their vote on one candidate to help them win primaries but it's not enough for the general. This is why I've long advocated for Democrats to set themselves up to vote in Republican primaries via whatever the requirements are. A small movement of Dems doing this could bring sanity to the GOP by rejecting these extremist terrorists. Difficult to build a movement like that as it may actually make it harder for Dems to win a general having a better GOP candidate, however eliminating the risk of having a terrorist in office is a worthy goal and good for the country overall. Do this nationally and we might actually get sane Republican platforms/agendas that believe in actual American values instead of this unamerican garbage they try now.

I hear what you’re saying but now we’re down to hoping the 227,000 votes cast in the Dem primary out weigh the 374,000 that were cast in the Rep primary. You better hop 150,000 republican votes decide to sit it out.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is predicting that Democrats will keep control of the Senate in the November election and he feels “exhilarated and gratified” by the surge of enthusiasm with Vice President Kamala Harris atop the party’s ticket.
Schumer, who played a pivotal role in talking privately with President Joe Biden before the incumbent’s decision to end his reelection bid, appears more optimistic than Democrats have been in confronting a tough Senate map this election defending seats in states where Republican nominee Donald Trump is popular.
“We are so enthusiastic about the prospects of winning the presidency, keeping the Senate and winning the House,” Schumer, D-N.Y., said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Not gonna lie, but this reads like standard operating procedures.
“We are so enthusiastic about the prospects of winning the presidency, keeping the Senate and winning the House”, every political leader would say something to that effect.

Make sure to get out and vote today, especially on proposals that are snuck on the primary ballot instead of the November ballot. Shouldn't be allowed.
