Heat, if you know anyone who can get a private jet in here tomorrow, I've got it paid for and you can go, as long as you watch my kids. Serious.

Re: Hurricane Irma
Guys,
In the off chance that something horrible happens. Which hopefully it doesn't. I'd like someone to sue my company for negligence. Del Monte Fresh Produce. I stuck around because I was worried that if something horrible happens, after the storm I'll run out of vacation days to continue getting paid. Anyway, this sucks. Hopefully it is entertaining to you that will have blizzards to go through this winter, that will slowly send snow your way!
important information related to our facility:
1. Due to school closures, employees are permitted to bring their children to work on September 7th and September 8th. Children need to remain alongside you throughout the day.
2. You may wear jeans to work on both September 7th and September 8th.
3. Please shut down the computers and equipment in your area before leaving the office each day. Turning off the surge protector for the equipment at your work station will suffice.
4. Remove items from the window sills to avoid water damage.
5. Cars left in the parking garage are left at the employee’s risk. Please leave a key to your vehicle with Security specifying the location of your car. Cars should be left on Floors 4-6 if possible.
6. The 2017 Hurricane Preparedness Plan is available on the Human Resources Portal on the intranet, under the ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬General Information tab.
7. Employees are encouraged to call for the latest status.
They sent another email today saying the building is closed tomorrow, so ignore the September 8th part.

Read your PM's.
I'm not trying to be a smartass. You wouldn't be able to get north enough at this point due to traffic????

Traffic and gas shortages. Hour plus waits for gas IF you find a place that is not out of gas completely. On Google maps, the major highways have been red most of the day throughout the northern half of the state (less so on I-95, probably because anywhere you go along there up to the Carolinas are in Irma's potential path). I wonder if they're going to open up Southbound lanes to Northbound traffic at some point, but I haven't heard anything about that as of yet.tTy wrote:InTenSity wrote:

Re: Hurricane Irma
People in GA are starting to bail, Gulfstream(based in Savannah) started flying every plane they have on hand that was airworthy out to Arkansas, this includes planes that are still being finished for delivery and planes there for maintenance. They were using the test aircraft of new models to shuttle pilots back to home base to fly more planes out.

It's ridiculous that this wasn't done yesterday. I heard Wolf Blitzer ask the Governor when it would be done, and he just ignored the question.

They are closing southbound traffic down and opening up 75 to only northbound traffic on both sides today. Get out of there. No sense in chancing it.

Re: Hurricane Irma
Correct me if I'm wrong Florida guys, but it actually seems a bit better this morning. Yesterday it was supposed to remain a Cat 4 until it practically reached the panhandle. This morning the projection is it hits as a cat 4 and then quickly weakens to a cat 2. Looks like it lost some steam overnight.

Yeah saw that. The problem is there is a chance it could hit cat 5 again if it stays to far north of Cuba. The water temp is 90 degrees down there. Also, the new track has the eye going right up the middle of the Florida peninsula. So that is worse case scenario even if the storm weakens quickly being over land.
I am still praying it turn north short of Florida and heads out to the Atlantic.

The track changed to go over land. It would have stayed stronger if it remained off shore.

Re: Hurricane Irma
That projected weakening is because the center track has it going up through the middle of the state, so being more over land would weaken it. So better further up the state, but it won't have weakened when it hits the Southern part.WhiteBoyHatcher wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong Florida guys, but it actually seems a bit better this morning. For us in Miami, the latest track has it going more West and not a direct hit here. The bad news of that is that it does out Miami on the dirty side. And Irma is a dirty bitch.
Of course, the center of the track can vary. The storm can wobble, etc.
